Alice Corl Myers
Alice Elaine Corl Myers, 89, of Salisbury, passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2021.
Alice was born September 19, 1931, in Cabarrus County, to the late David Homer Corl and Agnes Cress Corl. She had 12 brothers and sisters and a loving mom and dad. They lived on a farm and worked hard. Mrs. Myers was a 1949 graduate of Mt. Pleasant School and retired from R.W. Norman's in Salisbury after 32 years where she worked in inventory control. Not one to sit around, she then went to work at Rowan Regional Medical Center where she began as a receptionist in ICU before transitioning to work the front desk. Mrs. Myers loved working and retired from Rowan Regional in 2015 where she was known as the "mayor" of the hospital. She was a charter member of Bethel Baptist Church in Rockwell where she loved to sing in the church choir, especially during the Christmas season, and working in the church nursery. Mrs. Myers traveled to the Holy Land twice, once in 1973 by herself and again in 1985 with her husband Harold, thoroughly enjoying both trips. She loved being around people and cared deeply about others, going the extra mile to call and check on people that were sick or for any other reason to make sure they were doing okay. She and her husband loved taking their grandchildren to Dan Nicholas Park enjoying all the attractions there.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Myers was preceded in death by her husband, Harold William Myers, whom she married March 3, 1951; and her siblings brothers DeWitt, Bill, Houston, Gilmer, Gene, Bud (David), and sisters Dorothy, Edna, Ruby, Penny, Catherine.
She is survived by her daughters, Joy Myers Mull and husband, Harold, of Charlotte, Kim Myers Cline and husband, Rudy, of Ramseur, and Marsha Myers Hovis and husband, Tom, of Raleigh; sister, Ann Beaver of Winchester, VA; grandchildren, Grey and Adam Mull, Rebekah Clark, Rachel Price, and Thomas Hovis; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Mrs. Myers' caregivers Karen Huff, Janet Ruff, Amy Austin and also Crystal Kirkman, Stephanie McRae, and Robin Dyson and Novant Health Hospice and nurses Jessica and Kelly for their devotion and loving care over the last year and months.
The family will greet friends and relatives from 4:00 PM until 4:45 PM on Friday, August 20, at Bethel Baptist Church in Rockwell.
The funeral service will follow at 5:00 PM on Friday in the church, with Rev. David Fulp, Rev. Ken Prater, and Rev. John Houghton, officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church and school, Rockwell, NC.
