SOPHIA - Ross Arnold Evans, 69, formerly of Charlotte, died Thursday, May 4, 2000, at the home of his daughter, 2098 Old Plank Road, Sophia.

A graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, May 8, 2000, in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Charlotte, with the Rev. Larry Wells officiating.

He was born Jan. 10, 1931, in Asheville, a son to Herbert and Sue Galloway Evans. Mr. Evans was a retired truck driver and was of the Baptist faith. He was married to the former Gladys Evans, who preceded him in death.

Surviving are two daughters, Darlene Osborne of Sophia and Rose Evans Ward of Greensboro; one son, Marshall Evans of Shelby; seven sisters, Mrs. Wilma Teague of Canton, Mrs. Hilda Ballard of Asheville, Mrs. Vera Green of Cruso, Mrs. Louise Surratt of Swannona, Mrs. Ann Dortmundt, Mrs. Sara Branch and Mrs. Mary Ruth Ray, all of Reidsville; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, May 7, 2000, at the Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale and at other times at the home of Darlene Osborne, 2098 Old Plank Road, Sophia.

Memorials may be directed to Center of Living, Home, Health and Hospice, 416 Vision Drive, Asheboro, NC.
