Leon Dickson Lambert, 81, of Candor, NC passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at his home. His funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, August 3, 2023 in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel in Albemarle with Rev. Glenn Hancock officiating. Burial will follow in Stanly Gardens of Memory with full military rites by the US Army. The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Albemarle on Thursday from 9 until 10:30 AM prior to the hour of the service.
Born October 25, 1941 in Stanly County, NC, he was the son of the late Burley Melvin Lambert and Bertha Lemmons Lambert. He was a retired First Sergeant in the US Army having served 30 years. He also retired from the NC Corrections Department after 20 years of Service. He was a member of Sardis United Methodist Church. Mr. Lambert loved his ancestry, being in the country, farming, and bluegrass music.
Mr. Lambert is survived by sons Michael Stirewalt (Amy) of SC, David Stirewalt (Sylvia) of New London, NC, and Kevin Lambert (Lynne) of Durham, daughters Patricia Leonard (Phillip) of Vale, NC, and Juanita Faulkner (Brian) of Richfield, NC, his significant other, Ann Woodward of Candor, NC, grandchildren Adam Stirewalt, Briget Taber, Christopher Stirewalt, Felix Stirewalt, Emily Stirewalt, Matthew Leonard, Max Leonard and Brittany Alexander, Amanda Laton, Andy Stirewalt, Aaron Stirewalt, Anita Stirewalt, Briana Faulkner, Zachariah Faulkner, Orion Faulkner, and Corey Faulkner as well as 35 great-grandchildren. A brother Melvin Eugene Lambert and sister Mildred Lambert Misenheimer preceded him in death.
