Clarence Newton Trexler Jr.

Clarence Newton Trexler Jr., 82, of China Grove, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2021 at his home in China Grove. He was born on November 15, 1938 in China Grove to the late Clarence Trexler Sr. and Mamie Frye Trexler. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Clarence graduated from China Grove High School and worked as a Data Communications Supervisor for Fieldcrest Cannon until his retirement. He was a member of the Eureka Masonic Lodge #283, the Oasis Shriners’ Fraternity, American Legion: NC Post 115 and the First United Methodist Church of China Grove. He enjoyed cooking, especially smoked meats and barbeque, which he loved to share with family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Clarence was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth Trexler Wilhelm, and Bettie Trexler O'Brien.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years; Elizabeth "Ellen" Plummer Trexler of China Grove; his children, Clarence Michael Trexler and wife Juli, and Deborah Trexler Moss; grandchildren, Joshua Trexler and Grant Trexler.

A private Celebration of Life will be held on February 24, 2021 at First United Methodist Church in China Grove. The cremated remains will be placed at the Salisbury National Cemetery with full Military Honors.

The family wishes to thank all the representatives of Trellis Supportive Care Rowan. They treated Clarence with the utmost dignity and respect allowing his final days with his family to be as meaningful as possible.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to: First United Methodist Church, China Grove; or Trellis Supportive Care Rowan, Salisbury.
