Larry Richard Efird

Larry Richard Efird, 87, of Oakboro, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022, at his home.

Larry was born August 6, 1934, in North Carolina to the late James Henry Efird and the late Lessie Dick Efird. He was also preceded in death by son, Todd Richard Efird, and brothers, James Kenneth Efird and Darrell Clinton Efird.

Mr. Efird graduated high school at Endy High School in 1952. Mr. Efird went on to serve in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. During that time, he married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Clark Efird on August 7, 1954. After his service, he attended a business college in Charlotte. Mr. Efird proceeded to work at Carolina Freight Trucking Company, and then Trailmobile where he worked in sales. He then went on to be a sales manager at Morgan Motor Company where he enjoyed meeting and fellowship with residents in Albemarle.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 1:45 pm, Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Oakboro officiated by Rev. Shad Hicks and Rev. Marvin Tyson. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 17236 Frog Pond Road, Oakboro, NC.

Survivors include wife, Shirley Clark Efird of Oakboro, NC; daughter, Wendi Efird Mock (Butch) of Huntersville, NC; grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth Mock and Darin Richard Mock; and brother, Donald Gene Efird (Janice) of Albemarle, NC.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Larry’s memorial fund, which will go to Community Homecare and Hospice of Troy and Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
