SALISBURY - Lawrence Raymond Eller, 78, of Salisbury, died Friday (Oct. 14, 2005) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.
Mr. Eller was born Jan. 21, 1927 in Rowan County to the late Lomie and Esther Eagle Eller.
His brother Wade Eller was killed in action during World War II.
He was a 1945 graduate of Rockwell High School and a 1950 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of North Carolina State University majoring in Agriculture. Mr. Eller was a past school teacher having taught at Endy School, West Stanly High School in Stanly County and East Rowan High School in Rowan County. He retired as supervisor of maintenance for Rowan County Schools in 1989. Mr. Eller was an avid farmer. He was a member of Providence United Methodist Church, Salisbury. His duties included administrative council chairperson for 40 years, taught Sunday School for 62 years, cemetery chairperson and member of the finance committee and trustees.
Survivors include wife Evelyn Taylor Eller whom he married June 8, 1969; son David Eller and wife Wendy of Gold Hill and granddaughter, Katelyn Eller of Gold Hill.
Service: 11 a.m. Monday, Providence United Methodist Church, Salisbury conducted by Rev. Dan Gobble, Pastor and Rev. Fred Hill. Mr. Eller will be placed in the Church 30 minutes. before the service.
Visitation: 6 p.m. - until tonight, Powles Funeral Home, Rockwell.
