Edith Stokes McIntyre

Edith Stokes McIntyre, 90, of Rockwell, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2017. She was born December 23, 1926, in Rowan County to the late Moses Marshall Stokes and Mattie C. Stokes.

Mrs. McIntyre attended Shaver School and retired from Fiber Industries in 1987 as a Production Operator. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rockwell.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Gladden “Chubby” McIntyre, whom she married December 5, 1947, and sister, Marie Stokes Thompson Hauser.

Mrs. McIntyre is survived by her daughter, Peggy M. Leazer and husband, Lewis, of Rockwell, brother, Marshall Stokes and wife, Hazel, of Rockwell, sister, Margaret Stokes Holshouser of Salisbury, two grandsons, Lewis William Leazer and James Daniel Leazer, and great-grandson, Lewis Kane Leazer.

The family will visit with friends and relatives from 10:00 to 10:45 AM on Thursday, December 21, 2017, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. The funeral service will follow in the church at 11:00 AM on Thursday, conducted by Rev. Bruce Sheeks, pastor. Interment will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens.
