Herbert H. Hopkins

Mr. Herbert H. Hopkins, age 88 of Albemarle, NC passed away Sunday, December 18, 2016 in the Stanly Manor Nursing Center, Albemarle, NC.  His service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Dunn’s Grove Baptist Church, Albemarle with the Rev. Jeremy Holt officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Mr. Hopkins was born November 7, 1928 in Stanly County, NC to the late Walter David Hopkins and Della Earnhardt Hopkins.  He was the owner and operator of HH Hopkins Builders for over 40 years. Mr. Hopkins was a member of Dunn’s Grove Baptist Church for over 50 years where he was a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Trustee, and on the Pastor Search Committee. At Christmas time he enjoyed giving out treat bags at the church and also giving peppermints wherever he went.  He also enjoyed gardening, fishing and wood working.

Mr. Hopkins was married to the late Claudine Shaver Hopkins who preceded him in death in 2007.  He is survived by one son; Rev. Tony David Hopkins and wife Amanda of Albemarle, NC, two daughters; Libby Hopkins Hartsell and husband Randy of Richfield, NC, and Donna Hopkins Smith and husband David of New London, NC, eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
