Ruby Shaver Furr Yow
Ruby Shaver Furr Yow, 87, of 33426 Old Salisbury Road, Albemarle, died at 4:40 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, in Britthaven of Piedmont Nursing Center.
Her funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, at Stanly Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Les Schofield and Gene Parker will officiate and burial will be in Anderson Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the hour of the service.
Born Oct. 21, 1922, in Stanly County, she was the daughter of the late William Travis and Eunice Thompson Shaver and was a retired employee of Albemarle Spinning Mill. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jake Furr, in 1969; her second husband, Hubert Yow; and a grandchild.
She is survived by three sons, Tim Furr and Benny Furr, both of Albemarle, and Mickey Furr of Badin; three daughters, Kay Parker of Jamestown, Gail Thompson of Mt. Gilead and Nancy Parker of Albemarle; two sisters, Annie Scott of Albemarle and Betty Hardin of Columbia, S.C.; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
