Rev. Bewey M. Shaver

Rev. Bewey M. Shaver, age 84, of the Deep River Community of Sanford, N.C., died Friday, November 9, 2012, at Central Carolina Hospital.

He was born in Rowan County, N.C. on July 3, 1928, to the late Curtis Bewey Shaver and Minnie Cordell Burrage Shaver. Rev. Shaver graduated from Burton Business School in Concord, N.C., Catawba College in Salisbury, N.C. and Wake Forest Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C. He served in many churches throughout North Carolina including North Kannapolis Baptist Church in Kannapolis, N.C. as a youth worker, Calvary Baptist Church as their pastor in Hamlet, N.C., Lakeside Baptist Church as their pastor in Richmond, VA, and served twice as the pastor for Flat Springs Baptist Church in the Deep River Community of Sanford, N.C. He also served our country in the United States Army.

Following his retirement Rev. Shaver enjoyed serving other churches as an Interim Minister. These include; Lemon Springs Baptist Church, Hunt Springs Baptist Church and Cornerstone Baptist Church all in Sanford, N.C. and North Kannapolis Baptist Church.

Rev. Shaver made a huge impact on the lives of many young men in the area by serving as their Boy Scout Leader. The family asks any men and their family that were in Troop #945 to sit as a group during his funeral service and to please be at the church by 1:30 PM Monday.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Vivian Harrington Shaver; children. Frieda Lynn Shaver Moseley and husband Arthur of Odessa, Florida and Melvin Shaver and wife Pam Tillotson Shaver of Deep River; sister, Alene Shaver Hatley of Landis, N.C.; grandchildren, Brian Matthew Moseley, Joshua Shaver Moseley, Casey Michelle Moseley, all of Odessa, FL; Alexander Thomas Shaver, Anthony Ross Shaver and Lucas Ronald Shaver all of Deep River and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Sunday, November 11, 2012, from 6-8 PM in the fellowship hall of Flat Springs Baptist Church. The funeral will be held Monday, November 12, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Flat Springs Baptist Church with Dr. Gary McCollough, Dr. Charles Huggins and Father Craig Lister officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
