Robert Kay "Jack" Tucker

Robert Kay "Jack" Tucker, 77, of 20255 Old Mill Road, Locust, passed away Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at Stanly Manor in Albemarle.

Visitation was from 7-9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, in the Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel. Elder Richard Almond officiated. Burial followed at Running Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, with military honors conducted by Albemarle-Stanly County DAV Chapter 12.

Mr. Tucker was born Feb. 10, 1932, in Stanly County, to the late Oscar Filmore Tucker and Ann Yow Tucker. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dolly Carolyn McGuire Tucker, who died in 1992 and a son, Robbie Kay Tucker.

He had worked for Stegall Trucking in Marketing and Transportation. He was a member of Ridgecrest Presbyterian in Locust. He was interested in his church, recreation and youth activities. He was a known regular at many local cafés and could be counted on for a good joke or interesting conversation. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean conflict and was a member of the Masons.

He is survived by his daughters, Sunday Tucker of Albemarle and Leigh Tucker Savage of Waxhaw; a son, David Tucker of Locust; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
