Nancy Elizabeth Campbell Morgan

Nancy Elizabeth Campbell Morgan, 71, formerly of Gold Hill, passed away on Thursday Feb. 4, 2016, at her residence in Johnson City, Tenn. She was born Feb. 20, 1944, the daughter of the late Lee Campbell and the late Grace Elizabeth Alexander. She was educated in the Rowan County schools. She attended Southeastern Beauty College and Rowan-Cabarrus Community College where she earned her CNA certification. She was a member of Ursinus United Church of Christ. She owned Nancy's Hair Den and Flowers By Nancy and ran a flag car company prior to her moving to Tennessee.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ed Campbell; and sisters Mary Ann Campbell and Dorothy Campbell. She was also preceded in death by three grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband Dewey Morgan, who she married Oct. 24, 1982; sons Cyrus Cooper (Trish) and Lawrence Cooper (Melinda); daughters Penny Cooper Chandler and Michelle Cooper Newton; stepson Greg Morgan (Melinda); stepdaughters Donna Beaver (Jerry), Sandy Matney (Randy) and Julie Poteat (Jeff); brothers Bob Campbell, Melvin Campbell and John Campbell; sister Peggy Campbell; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family wants to especially thank Brittany Bowling who was the caregiver for Mrs. Morgan for the last 2-1/2 years of her declining health.

Arrangements: The family will receive friends Sunday, Feb. 7 from 2–3 p.m. at Powles Staton Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will follow at 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 7 at Flat Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Pastor Ronnie Pinyan, pastor of Lake Community Church, officiating.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Powles Staton Funeral Home to assist the family with final expenses.
