MOORESVILLE - Wiley Raymer Goodman, Sr., 97, of Corriher Springs Road, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, at The Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis.

Born Sept. 9, 1913, in Iredell County, he was the son of the late Mack and Leila Overcash Goodman. Mr. Goodman retired from Cascade Mills and was also a farmer. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, Mount Ulla.

Mr. Goodman was preceded in death by his sisters, Mabel Houston, Fairy Helms, Bryte Fite, Edna Lam, Leila Brooks Speight and Gladys McCorkle; and a granddaughter, Rhonda Martin.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Mildred Corriher Goodman; children Wiley Goodman, Jr. and wife Brenda, Jake Goodman and wife Carolyn, Dale Goodman and Lee Goodman; grandchildren Sharon Waller, Adele Goodman, John Goodman, Todd Goodman, Lisa Kiker, Renee Readling and Cole Goodman; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Service and Visitation: Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11 at Centenary United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Swofford officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30-3 p.m. prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County and The Tucker Hospice House.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County and/or Centenary United Methodist Church, Mount Ulla.

Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville, is serving the family of Mr. Goodman.
