Thursday, January 23, 2014 — Robert “Bob” Lewis Sells, 76, of Richfield, N.C., passed away Monday, January 20, 2014, in his home with his family by his side.
His funeral service was at 4 p.m. Thursday, January 23, 2014, at Matton’s Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kathy Bryant and the Rev. Tony Bowman officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends on Wednesday, January 22, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. at Stanly Funeral Home, Albemarle.
Born April 18, 1937, in Stanly County, N.C., he was the son of the late Henry Goodman Sells and Hallie Barringer Sells.
He was a retired employee of Alcoa with over 33 years of service. He was a lifetime member of Matton’s Grove United Methodist Church and was a volunteer with the American Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity. Mr. Sells was also a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Alva Goodman Sells. Other survivors include son, Wesley Robert Sells and wife Tracie of Richfield; daughters, Kelley Sells Huff and husband David and Robin Sells Rogers and husband Tommy, all of Richfield; brother, Linny Sells and wife Kay of Richfield; eight grandchildren, Mandy Huff Adkins, Matt Huff, Katie Huff, Jenna Huff, Lauren Rogers, Jonah Rogers, Jordan Sells and Carson Sells.
Memorials may be made to the Sawtooth Oak Handicapped Hunt, Richfield, NC; to Hospice of Stanly County; or to Matton’s Grove United Methodist Church.
Stanly Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
