Notes for Clyde Weir “Bud” Goodman
Clyde W. “Bud” Goodman

Clyde W. “Bud” Goodman, 89, of Richfield, passed away February 18, 2017, at Spring Arbor in Albemarle.  He is the son of the late L.Q. Goodman and Nora Brown Goodman.

In addition to his wife, Jeanette Williams Goodman, he is survived by three sons: Tony Goodman (Jeanie), of Galax, VA, Jackie Goodman (Carol), of Richfield, and Tim Goodman (Cynthia) of Richfield; six grandchildren: Scott, Amy, Rachel, Abbie, Adam and Jodi, step-granddaughter Heather; and five great-grandchildren: Zaine, Rylee, Connor, Reese, and Quincy, and one step great-grandson Ronan.  He is also survived by one sister, Alva Sells of Richfield, NC.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Spencer Goodman, and three sisters, Carrie Mae Wood, Ann Robinson, and Melvene Koontz.

Bud served in the US Army and spent 13 months in occupied Japan.  He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather.  He was what most people would call a man’s man.  He worked all his life to provide for his family.  During his life he worked as a brick/rock mason, owned an oil distribution company in Albemarle and worked at Pfeiffer University for many years.  While working, he maintained a cattle farm and was always busy.  He loved to travel with his wife, Jeanette.  They traveled around the world, visiting the Holy Land, Australia, Russia, Europe and all over the US.  Bud loved traveling with the NC Cattleman’s Association and especially enjoyed several trips with his three boys and grandsons, to Wyoming.  These “pack trips” were spent riding horseback, camping and fishing in the Teton National Forest.

Visitation will be held at Stanly Funeral Home in Albemarle, NC, on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, from 1pm to 2:30pm. A memorial service will be conducted by Rev. Jim Groome at the funeral home chapel at 3pm following visitation.  Burial will follow at the Richfield Community cemetery with military rites by Stanly County DAV.

Memorials may be made to Richfield United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
