Royston, Ga. - Mrs. Geneva Lee Goodman Phillips, 83, of Royston, Ga., died at her home February 15, 2004 after an extended illness.

A native of Gold Hill, N.C., she was born September 23, 1920 to the late Paul T. and Emma Arey Goodman. She graduated from Appalachian State University and taught math and physical education in Kannapolis, N.C., Canon and Lavonia, Ga. She was a retired school teacher and homemaker.

She was married to Robert Lee Phillips, June 13, 1947, and they moved to Sandy Cross community of Franklin County, Ga. in 1951 where she lived the rest of her life. She was a member of Peniel Pentecostal Holiness Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul T. and Emma Arey Goodman, three brothers: Emerson Goodman, Paul T. Goodman, Jr. and Dwight Goodman, three sisters: Gertrude Hemrick, Mabel Carpenter, and Ruth Hammill, and 2 daughters: Reva Arlette Phillips and Karen Lynn Phillips.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Lee Phillips of Royston, Ga., three sons and daughters-in-law: Dr. Kinsey and Joy Phillips of Commerce, Ga., Kirby and Kay Phillips and Kevin and Laura Phillips both of Royston, one brother, Harry Goodman of Denton, N.C., one sister, Rachel Hahn of Stanfield, N.C. and 8 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Pruitt Funeral Home in Royston, Ga. from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday Evening. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday Afternoon. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 18, 2004 at Pennington Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. John Ingham and Rev. Gary Osteen officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandsons: Jason Phillips, Eric Phillips, Nathan Phillips, Jonathan Phillips, Justin Phillips and grand-nephew Steven Till. Joshua Phillips and Caleb Phillips will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In Lieu of Flowers ‹ Memorials may be made to the Vista Care Hospice, 767 Oglethorpe Ave., Athens, Ga. 30606.

Pruitt Funeral Home in Royston is in charge of arrangements.
