Donald O'Brien Nussman, 70, passed away at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, April 10, 2017 after a brief illness.
He was born July 15, 1946 to the late Sara Goodman Nussman and Donald Ellsworth Nussman.
Brien was a 1964 graduate of Boyden High School, where he lettered in golf and basketball and attended Appalachian State Teachers College. Golf remained a big part of his life and thoroughly enjoyed golfing with friends at the Warrior and various courses in the state.
Brien worked a number of years at Goodman Lumber Company and most recently with The Arc of Rowan County where he developed lasting friendships with his clients and their families. Brien was very outgoing, treasured time with friends and he loved life. He never met a stranger.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Salisbury.
Those who will cherish his memory are his son Patrick and wife Laura along with grandson Caleb of Winston-Salem. Brothers Tim and Tony, wife Jenny along with nephew, Scott, wife Nan, their children Gabe and Lilly, Chris, wife Ingrid and niece Sara along with a number of cousins from the Nussman and Goodman families.
Brien was particularly appreciative of his doctor and cousin Myron Arthur Goodman. Our whole family is indebted and forever grateful for Dr. Goodman's invaluable dedication and devotion toward his care. Our gratitude also goes out to Rowan Medical Center and Forsyth Medical Center for their attentive care as well.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3 PM Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Summersett Memorial Chapel, conducted by Dr. Mark Conforti, Minister of First United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends after the service.
