Frances Eagle Willard

ORANGEBURG, S.C. - Frances Mildred Eagle Willard, 91, died Friday, Dec. 11, 2009, at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg, S.C.

Born in Salisbury, Mrs. Willard was a daughter of the late Martin J. Eagle and Vera Roberts Eagle. She graduated from Salisbury High School and the Salisbury Business School.

Mrs. Willard lived in Salisbury for many years and she worked as a secretary with the NC Finishing Company. She and her husband moved to Orangeburg, S.C. in 1964 where she opened an antique shop. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Hoe 'n' Hope Garden Club.

Mrs. Willard was a Gold Star Mother, having lost her oldest son in action in Vietnam.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Grey Willard; a son, Hugh G. Willard; and a brother, Hugh K. Eagle.

Survivors include her son, Robert B. Willard, of Aiken, S.C.; grandson Matthew Willard and wife Sasha, of Aiken, S.C.; granddaughter, Erica Willard, of Walterboro, S.C.; sister, Eloise Abernethy, of Hickory; and two nieces, Pam Parlier and husband Tim, of Marietta, Ga. and Donna Waldron and husband Greg, of Hickory.

Service: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009, at First Presbyterian Church, 650 Summers St., Orangeburg, S.C. with Rev. Jud Jordan officiating. The family will receive friends briefly following the service.

Burial: 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009, in Rowan Memorial Cemetery, Salisbury.
