Notes for Brenda Jean Stoner
Brenda Jean Stoner Furr

Brenda Jean Stoner Furr went to her heavenly home on January 12, 2014 after a long illness.

A service in celebration of Brenda's life will be held at 4:00pm Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church; interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The Furr family will receive friends from 5-8pm Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church sanctuary.

Brenda was born July 15, 1947 in Newport News, VA daughter of the late James Everette Stoner and Marie Sifford Stoner. She was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and received her BA in French education from Appalachian State University in 1967. She began her career teaching French at Northwest High School from 1967-1984. She continued and finished her career at Mt. Pleasant High School from 1984-2007. She loved to teach the French language and had a love for the country of France. She led multiple groups of students on trips to visit Europe over the years. Her passion for teaching was unmatched.

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother to her family and she loved her Lord Jesus. Her faith was an extremely large part of her life and she credited scriptures and the power of prayer with her ability to surpass the doctors expectations during her time of illness and was a lifelong faithful member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher for the little children's class.

Brenda is survived by her husband of 47 years, Wayne Furr, daughter Heather Furr Bell and husband Doug of Concord, son Jeremy Furr of Charlotte, two grandchildren Chloe Marie Bell and Kensington Reagan Bell. She loved her granddaughters Chloe and Kensi dearly and has helped shape them into the women they will become; also surviving two sisters, Linda S. Black (Larry) of Hampton, VA and Kay S. Barbee of Concord and a brother, James Everette Stoner, Jr (Janet) of Huntersville.

The family would like to thank Dr. James North at CMC-Northeast and Dr. John Martinie at CMC-Main for the surgical care they provided during the past seven years.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions to the Mt. Pleasant High School Bible Teaching Association or Cross of Christ Lutheran Church.
