REIDSVILLE — Charlene Evans Hawks, 65, of 171 VFW Road, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2012 at Hospice Home of Rockingham County.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, January 30, 2012 at Reidlawn Cemetery with Dr. Ron Boswell officiating.

Mrs. Hawks was born on January, 30 1946 to Geraldine Frick Evans and the late Thomas C. Evans. She was of the Baptist faith and attended Calvary Baptist Church. Charlene was a wonderful caretaker and loved her mother and family very deeply. She enjoyed collecting dolls and anything that was Mickey Mouse. Charlene was a very outgoing woman that meant what she said but never met a stranger. Among her other interests she loved music, fishing and anything outdoors. Along with her father she is preceded in death by her husband, David Hawks; brothers, Charles and Billy Evans.

Charlene is survived by her step-daughter, Lisa Hawks Elgin and husband, Ricky of Danville, VA; step-grandchildren, Brittney, Lauren and Megan; step-great grandchildren, Mark and Noah; mother, Geraldine Frick Evans of Reidsville; brother, Bobby Evans and wife Carol of Orange Co., VA; sister, Marie Law and husband, Willie of Reidsville; nephews, Tommy Law, Gary Law, Bryon Evans, Billy Evans; special great nieces and nephews, Ciera Owens, Melia Owens, Brock Owens, Amanda Evans, C.J. Evans, Katie Evans, Brandon Evans, Cody Compton and Megan  Hanes; and her beloved special dogs a Jack Russell and Chihuahuas.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the residence of her mother, Geraldine Evans, 147 VFW Road, Reidsville.

In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made in Mrs. Hawks' honor to Hospice Home of Rockingham County, Wentworth, NC.
