J.B. (Bill) Gibbons, Jr.
Mr. J.B (Bill) Gibbons, Jr., age 92 of Woodleaf, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at The Laurels of Salisbury after a brief illness. Mr. Gibbons was born April 17, 1928 and was the son of the late J.B. Gibbons, Sr. and Neely Kluttz Gibbons. Bill was a member of The Arbor United Methodist Church in Salisbury for many years.
Bill worked for many years as a farmer, selling his produce to Food Lion and was owner-operator of Gibbons Produce and Furniture in Spencer. Bill enjoyed playing baseball in his younger years and was part of the American Legion teams back in 1944-1945. He loved farming, going bird hunting, and he was a member of the Game Breeders Association.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 41 years, Nancy Hill Gibbons; his sons, Gary Gibbons and Jeffrey Gibbons and daughters, Gloria Koontz (Terry) and Sonda Oxendine (Bobby). He also leaves behind ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren.
Graveside service for Bill will be on Friday, May 8, 2020 at 11:00am at The Arbor United Methodist Church Cemetery, 5545 Woodleaf Road, officiated by Pastor Chris Williams. The family has requested you kindly remember Bill with memorials in his honor to our local area food banks or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
