Gertie Mae (Whitley) Herlocker
Gertie Mae (Whitley) Herlocker, age 93, of Kernersville, N.C., died Monday, April 13, 2009, at her home.
Born February 14, 1916 in Stanly County, NC, she was the daughter of the late John Whitley and the late Sarah (Lambert) Whitley.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Iron Herlocker.
She is survived by her: daughter, Ronda Souvaine Russell & husband Donald E. Russell of Kernersville, N.C.; sister, Ruth Revis of Charlotte; sister, Louise Norris of Charlotte; sister, Margaret Hatley of Oakboro; sister, Dean Lindstrom of West Palm Beach, Fla.; brother, John Arthur Whitley of Salem, Va.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
Ms. Herlocker was employed by Stanly Knitting Mills, Oakboro and was a member of Oakboro First Baptist Church.
Arrangements are being handled by Hartsell Funeral Home - Albemarle. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM Thursday, April 16, 2009 at First Baptist Church of Oakboro Fellowship Hall. Funeral service will be at First Baptist Church, Oakboro, at 2:00 PM Thursday, April 16, 2009 , Dr. Rev. Terrell Watts officiating. Interment will be at Oakboro Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, or the charity of the donors choice.
