Vachel Lee Basinger
Vachel Lee Basinger, 76, went to be with his loving Savior on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008, at his home.
He was born Aug. 16, 1932, in Cabarrus County, the son of the late Walter I. Basinger and Bessie Mae Sloop Basinger.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired in 1994 as a supervisor in the Litho Department at the former Pillowtex Corp. He was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church, Kannapolis.
He was preceded in death by his silbings, Robert Basinger, Louise Bishop, Doug Basinger, and Lavada Tarlton.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ann Fesperman Basinger; his two children, Ricky Basinger and wife, Susan, of Kannapolis and Darrell Basinger and wife, Kim, of Huntersville; six grandchildren; and a brother, Gene Basinger of Concord.
He was a loving grandfather to his six grandchildren.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, at Memorial United Methodist Church, Kannapolis, officiated by the Rev. Jim Brookshire. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Whitley's Funeral Home, Kannapolis.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Memorial United Methodist Church, Kannapolis, or Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County.
