Thursday, December 16, 2010 — Margie Gazelle Harwood Almond, 80, of 24397 Ridgecrest Road Locust, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010 at Stanly Manor in Albemarle.

She was born on July 22, 1930 in Stanly County to the late Albert Washington and Jennie Belle Harwood. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Coy Lee Almond; brothers, Glenn and Spencer Harwood; and sisters, Bessie Lambert, Estelle Eudy, and Viola Rinehart.

Mrs. Almond was retired from Millingport Elementary School, where she was the school’s custodian. She was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant where she was an active member of the choir.

A visitation will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home Albemarle on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010 from 5-7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at Oak Grove United Methodist Church on Friday, Dec. 17, 2010 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Ervin Houser officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Almond is survived by her sons, Tony Almond and wife, Kelly, and Randy Almond and wife, Lisa, both of Mt. Pleasant; her daughter, Vickie Furr and husband, Boyd, of the Millingport community; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to The Gideons International, or Oak Grove United Methodist Church general fund.

Hartsell Funeral Home Albemarle is serving the Almond family.
