George "G.W." Wilson Dry, III
George "G.W." Wilson Dry, III, 79, of Locust, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at his home.
George was born April 29, 1941 in Concord to the late George Wilson Dry, Jr. and Roxie Lee Almond Dry. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Judy Helms Dry, who passed away January 1, 2020.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm -12:45 pm on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service to celebrate his life will follow in Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel, officiated by Rev. Jerry Simmons. He will be laid to rest at Stanly Gardens of Memory in Albemarle.
George retired from REA, now known as Union Power Cooperative, on May 1, 1992. He enjoyed spending time gardening, fishing, and loving up on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his son, George Dry, IV of Locust; daughters, Renda (Tim) McGirt of Mt. Pleasant; Rena Dry of Albemarle; granddaughters; Amanda Lyerly, DeAnna Taylor; great-grandchildren, Clinton Lyerly, Klarissa Lyerly, Lynden Duffy, Abigail Kosinski; brother, Glenn (Betty) Dry; and sister, JoAnn Hatley.
Memorials may be made to Autism Speaks.
