Peggy Eudy Hartsell
Peggy Eudy Hartsell, 83, of Locust, NC passed away Thursday October 12, 2023 in her home surrounded by her loving family. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 PM till 8 PM at Stanly Funeral Home in Locust. The funeral service will be 2pm Thursday, October 19 at Bethel Baptist Church in Locust with Pastor Brian Bolding, Pastor Glenn Johnson, and Pastor Brandon Bowers officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
Born November 20, 1939 in Cabarrus County, NC Peggy was the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Eudy and Lectie Huneycutt Eudy. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She worked several years as a Environmental Services Aid at Northeast Hospital in Concord and prior to that worked for Allison's in Stanfield. Peggy had a green thumb and loved gardening.
Peggy is survived by her husband of 66 years, J.D. Hartsell of Locust. She is also survived by her sons, Danny (Rose) of Stanfield and Dennis (Paula) Hartsell of Oakboro, and Cole, four grandchildren, Chellie Hartsell, Abby Hinson (Daniel), Daniel Hartsell, and Dustin Hartsell, and five great grandchildren, Ryder, Jensen, Kellan, Ellie, and Dacesyn. Other survivors include her sister, Scenie Hunter in Mount Pleasant, NC and brother H.D. Eudy (Nell) of Charlotte.
In addition to her parents, Peggy is preceded in death by siblings, Estelle Whitley, Mattie Belle Smith, Elizabeth Furr, Gertie Allmon, Curtis Eudy, Ernest Eudy, Jessie Eudy, and Ann Page. She is also preceded in death by her great grandson, Talin.
Memorials may be made in Peggy's memory to Hospice of Union County or to St. Jude Childrens Hospitals.
