Dessie Hudson Harrington

Dessie Hudson Harrington, 84, of Norwood, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at Bethany Woods Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Jimmy Caines and Michael White will officiate and interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Ms. Harrington was born on September 24, 1934 in Stanly County to the late Love Krone ‘Bud’ and Dessie Coley Hudson. She was a taxi driver for C&M Taxi service and a member of Mountain View Baptist Church.

Dessie was truly one of a kind. She loved all of her babies and enjoyed singing, dancing, and making people laugh. She always lit up the room and was the life of the party. She will also be remembered for her cleanliness and always keeping things neat and tidy.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Eugene Harrington; children: Stevie, Debra, and Patricia Harrington; granddaughter: Angela Burch; brothers and sisters: R.V. Whitley, Alonzo Hudson, Claudine McDonald, Edith White, Aileene Husdon, and Tommy Hudson; and seven half brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her children: Becky Turner (Eddie), Sandy Mabry, Donna Morris, Billy Harrington, Lorrie McKethan (Dale), and Amy Stirewalt (Frank); Step Children: Gene Harrington (Crystal), and Ginger Harrington; sixteen grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister: Brenda Tucker.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice and Stanly and the Uwharrie for their compassion and care.
