Everett Hudson

Everett Lester Hudson passed away at home in Albemarle, NC at 1:00 PM on December 28, 2021 at the age of 89.

Everett was predeceased by his first wife, the former Patty Jo Burleson (1932 - 1995), both of his parents, his siblings Jim Hudson and Carol Sue Whitley, grandson Jason Hudson and granddaughter Misty Hudson.

Everett is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, the former Rachel Hathcock Barbee.

Everett is lovingly remembered by his many relatives. These include sons Reggie (Dorothy) of Crofton, Maryland and Randy of Albemarle, granddaughter Jennifer Hudson, also of Albemarle, grandson Daniel Hudson of Baltimore, Maryland, and Major Ian Hudson, USAF (Rachael) of Clovis, New Mexico. Relatives by his second marriage include stepsons Thomas (Shirley) and Tim (Kathy) Barbee, and step-grandchildren Bradley (Becky), Josh (Kelly), Margaret, Noah, and Sam Barbee.

Everett was born in Albemarle, North Carolina on June 1, 1932 to Lex and Gladys Hudson. Everett attended Albemarle High School and later earned a GED. He was the owner of Hudson's Sheet Metal and Roofing for 30 years, working throughout Stanly County on residential and commercial repair, remodeling, and construction projects.

Everett enjoyed serving others. He taught an adult Sunday School class for 25 years at Centerview Baptist Church, was a deacon at both Centerview and Anderson Grove Baptist Church, and was a member of Prospect Baptist Church at the time of his death. He loved working at The Community Table and serving meals with a smile. He participated in many church-related trips, such as with the North Carolina Baptist Men Disaster Team to destinations such as Texas, Florida, Eastern North Carolina, and the Outer Banks. He was a member of the Gideons International.

A visitation will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday January 2, 2022 at Prospect Baptist Church, with a celebration of life service there at 3:00 PM. Interment will be at a later date.
