Landon Mullis

Lane Landon Mullis, 85, of New London, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2023 at his home.

Landon was born December 20, 1937 in Cabarrus County, North Carolina to the late Otto Lane Mullis and the late Vergie Deese Mullis.

The funeral service to celebrate Landon's life will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 11:00 am at New Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Cindy Furr. Burial will immediately follow at the New Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church Cemetery at 40237 Millingport Road, Richfield. A reception with the family will follow in the church's Family Life Center.

Landon is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Joyce Frick Mullis of the home. He is also survived by his children Dean Mullis (Jenifer), Mark Mullis (Tammy), Rick Mullis (Sandy), and Darrell Mullis (Lou Anne); sister Dolly Howard; grandchildren, Daniel Mullis (Lauren), Winslow Barnes (Taylor), Tanner Mullis (Jenna), Landon Anne Mullis, Ellie Mullis, Levi Mullis, Anne Marie Mullis, and Georgia Lane Mullis; and great-grandchildren, Raylan Mullis, Brody Mullis, and Wrenley Barnes.

Landon graduated from Alexander Wilson High School in Mebane - Class of 1956.  He served in the United States Marine Corps for three years, from 1956-1959. Landon married Joyce Frick in 1960 and worked many years driving a milk and ice cream truck for the Borden Milk Company. He began farming full time in 1977 and ran a successful hog and grain operation for many years. In addition, he sold seed corn which allowed him and Joyce to take many different trips due to being a top salesman for the companies for which he sold. He was also a loyal member of New Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church and served with his wife Joyce as treasurer and secretary for 21 years.

The family would like to thank Hospice and the many caregivers that have helped during this time.
