Kate Forrest Swaringen, 102, of Albemarle passed away Saturday May 10, 2014 in Stanly Manor. Her funeral service will be 2 PM Tuesday May 13, 2014 at Stony Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Lanny Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home on Monday evening from 7 until 8 PM.
Born, August 28, 1911 in Stanly County, NC she was the daughter of the late William James Forrest and Mary Ann “Molly” Parker Forrest. She was a retired employee of the American and Efird Mill Co and a member of Stony Hill United Methodist Church.
She was married to the late Paris Stanford Swaringen. Survivors include son Lloyd Keith “Buck” Swaringen of Albemarle, daughter Dorothy Swaringen Hughes of Issaquah, WA, five grandchildren: Richard Odom, Forrest Hughes, Cynthia Hughes, Elizabeth Hughes, and Virginia Gray, 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. A brother Jim D. Forrest and sister Willie Forrest Clodfelter preceded her in death.
