Notes for Martin Almond
Martin Almond was conscripted into service for the CSA on August 8, 1862. He was wounded in the leg and captured at Gettysburg on July 1, 1863, and was hospitalized in Gettysburg until transferred to David's Island, New York Harbor July 17-24, 1863. He was paroled at David's Island and transferred to City Point, Virginia on or about September 27, 1863 for exchange for an enemy prisoner. Martin was reported absent wounded until December 1, 1863, when he was reported absent without leave. He rejoined his company prior to March 1, 1864, and was present and accounted for until he was killed on or about May 9, 1864 near Spotsylvania Court House, Va.
