Carl Alexander Petrea, age 77 of 510 S. Central Ave., Locust, NC 28097, passed away on August 13, 2011 at Carolinas Medical Center NorthEast in Concord.
The family will receive friends from 12 pm until 2 pm Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at First Baptist Church, Locust. Funeral services will also be Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at 2 pm, First Baptist Church, Locust. The Rev. Kenny Wallace will officiate. There will be a 30 minute state. Interment will be in the church cemetery. At other times the family will be at his mother's home.
Born in Stanly County on October 10, 1933 to the late David Alexander and Della Madeline Furr Petrea.
Carl Petrea was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Mae Eudy Petrea and one brother Larry Petrea.
Carl was an active member of First Baptist Church of Locust where he served faithfully as a deacon and choir member. He was in the US Army from 1956 until 1962 in which time he served his country in the Korean War. He was a devoted husband. He was a manager for Wade Manufacturing in Wadesboro, NC.
Carl is survived by two sisters, Shirley Petrea Baucom and husband James, Sylvia Petrea Downer and husband Ronnie all of Stanfield; three nieces, Debbie Love and husband Alan of Oakboro, Sherry Honrine and husband Jeff of Charlotte and Stephanie Lowder and husband Chad of Albemarle.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Locust Building Fund, 320 Central Ave. S, Locust, NC.
