Robert Newell Morris, 83, of Mooresville, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at his residence.
He was born on March 22, 1931 in Rowan County, to the late John and Eva Earnhardt Morris. Mr. Morris was a veteran serving in the US Army. He was stationed in Japan during the Korean War as a radio technician. He was a retired stone mason and a member of Rocky Mount United Methodist Church in Mooresville. Mr. Morris loved to hunt, fish, and the beach. He enjoyed playing golf, cards, and cornhole. He was an avid Duke Blue Devil fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, James, Lee, Ernest, John and Charlie Morris.
Mr. Morris is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carol Sells Morris; children, Mike Morris (Debbie), Barry Morris (Vickie), Lisa Windle (Mark), Kenny Morris (Deneen), Dana Darling (Mike); sisters, Kathleen Poplin, Bonnie Parker, Nellie Little, Julia Williams, Ruby Barringer, Shirley Williams; eleven grandchildren, one great grandchild on the way; and many good friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 21 at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Georgianne Hartline officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Catawba Regional Hospice, Newton, NC.
