John "Bill" William Trexler

John "Bill" William Trexler, 82, of Salisbury, passed away Monday, December 31, 2018 at the Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks in Salisbury. He was born on October 3, 1936 in Rowan County to the late Harold J. Trexler and Ruth Mauney Trexler. He proudly served his country in the United States Army as an infantryman. 

John worked at Cartex Mill and Cardel Frabrics as a Supervisor until they closed. He then worked as a Carpenter for Clayton Homes and then at Dan Nicholas Park where he was in charge of the train and carousel. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church and worked as a fireman at the Salisbury Fire Department in the early 60's. He loved to go fishing and camping with his family and friends, and he was known to sun bath when he could. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ruth Cauble and Brenda Honeycutt; and grandchildren, Nathan Robinson and Ryan Robinson.

John is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Frances Trexler; two daughters, Tresea (Tim) Cook of Rockwell, and Sandra Robinson of Salisbury; grandson, Cody Robinson; and great-grandchildren, Ryan Robinson, and Lucy Stanley. 

The Visitation will be on Thursday January 3, 2019 from 2:00 to 3:00 PM at Powles Staton Funeral Home. 

The Funeral Service will follow the visitation at 3:00 PM at the Powles Staton Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Pastor, Chris Sadler of Victory Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens. Military Honors will provided by the Rowan County Veterans Honor Guard and the NC National Guard.
