Notes for Miriam Goodman
Miriam Gray

Miriam Goodman Gray, 81, of Concord, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at Tucker Hospice House surrounded by her loving daughters.

A celebration of Miriam’s life will begin at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Boger Reformed Church, where she was a life-long member. The Rev. Dr. Donald McManus will officiate, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant.

A Cabarrus County native and life-long resident, Miriam was born August 5, 1937, to the late Frank Goodman and Stella Sapp Goodman. She was predeceased by her brother, Vance Goodman and son-in-law Milton Turner.

Miriam enjoyed a career in Mt. Pleasant school cafeterias and as a medical office assistant at Northeast Urology, and enjoyed being a homemaker. As long as her health allowed, Miriam was a faithful participant in the life of Boger Church, singing in the choir, teaching vacation bible school and Sunday school, assisting with the Friday hot dog sales and the annual Lord’s Acre Sale each October. Her love of the outdoors made gardening, camping and trips to the beach natural pastimes. Following her grandchildren’s sporting events, whether indoors or out, delightfully occupied many hours over the years.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Ralph Gray, of the home; two daughters, Melanie G. Turner and Gina G. Coleman (Trent); five grandchildren, Chris Turner, Anita Turner, Jordan Safrit (Leah), Loren Coleman and Chandler Coleman; three great-grandchildren, Alyssa Rose Safrit, Katie Rae Safrit, and Oaklyn Nichole Safrit; a brother, Carl Goodman (Brenda); and three sisters-in-law, Frances Goodman, Margie Gray and Geneva Gray.

Miriam’s family extends special thanks to Laurie Kyler, Leathea Ford, Gayle Pittman, Danielle Getz, Leah Safrit, Anita Turner and Loren Coleman for their exceptional compassion and care for Miriam in her final days.

Memorial gifts may be directed to Boger Reformed Church, 7313 Gold Hill Road.
