Notes for Kem Floyd Almond
Kem Almond

Kem Floyd Almond passed away peacefully with his family on August 27, 2023 at the age of 68. Kem was proud to be a beloved son, husband, father, brother, and "pop pop" to his grand kids. He was well known throughout the community as a skilled auto mechanic throughout his life. Kem always took pride in his career and was known to family and friends as the man who could "fix any car".

You could often find him either coaching, watching, or working with the Athletic Booster Clubs around Aquadale and South Stanly sporting events. He took pride in being at all of his kids games no matter the time or distance. He helped start the Aquadale Community Youth Basketball League as well as helping rebuild the Aquadale baseball field. Over the years he took an abundance of softballs to the shins and surprise footballs to his body attempting to teach his kids the sports they love.

He was known to many for his sarcastic and witty sense of humor giving him the ability to make anyone laugh. He was an avid North Carolina Tar Heels fan and taught his kids from a young age that UNC basketball games were best watched with the TV muted and AM radio tuned to Woody Durham.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM  on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Aquadale Baptist Church. Rev. Delane Burris will officiate and interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening at Edwards Funeral Home in Norwood from 6:00 to 8:00PM.

He is preceded in death by his father, James Floyd Almond.

He is survived by his wife Tammy Gregory Almond of Aquadale; mother Joann Almond of Albemarle; son Colby Almond, wife Susan, and grand children James and Henry of Charlotte; son Carson Almond of Calabash; daughter Mackenzie Almond of Raleigh; and son Milas Almond and fiance Salika Che of Greensboro; brother Ladd Almond of Albemarle; and dog Barney.
