Dorothy Culp Moore

Dorothy Culp Moore went to her eternal home on July 21, 2012 at the Presbyterian Harris Hospice & Palliative Care in Charlotte, NC. 

Mrs. Moore had made her home at the Summit Place Assisted Living facility in Charlotte, NC for the last few years. Mrs. Moore was born in Stanly County on Feb 22, 1920. She was the daughter of Mary Smith Culp and Arlie Franklin Culp. Dorothy attended Badin Elementary and High School. She graduated with the class of 1939. She was the secretary of her senior class and organized the Beta Club. She continued her education at the Morgan Business School in Albemarle, NC. 

After her marriage to J Fred Moore, Jr. the couple made Salisbury their permanent home. The Main and Bailey Drugstore employed Mrs. Moore until her retirement. She made many loving friends during this time. Dorothy also was a member of the First Baptist Church of Salisbury, NC. She was the secretary of her Sunday school class and taught the primary Sunday school class during her time there. She remained faithful to her church family until her declining health moved her to Winston-Salem, NC. Dorothy also was a member and officer of the Forest Hills Garden Club, the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW post and did volunteer work at the VA Hospital in Salisbury, NC. 

Preceding her in death were her husband J Fred Moore, Jr. Feb. 8,1986 and sisters Hazelene Cox, Frances Hamill, and Lorene Taylor. 

Those left to cherish her memories are her two daughters Jane Moellendick(Bill) of Raleigh, NC, Lynn Pittman(George) of Pawleys Island, SC, three grandchildren, Johnny Loftin of Durham, NC, Katherine Pittman of Naples, Fl, and Brock Pittman of Raleigh, NC, four great grandchildren, sister Mary Culp Spires of Salisbury, NC and brother Arlie F Culp, Jr. of Ramseur, NC. 

The family will see friends from 12- 1 PM Wednesday (July 25) at Summersett Funeral Home. 

The funeral service will be held at 1 PM at the Summersett Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Rowan Memorial Park.

The family ask that is lieu of flowers memorial gifts be made to Presbyterian Hospice & Palliative Care, Charlotte, NC.
