Fayte Brewer

Fayte Brewer, 64, of Lafayette, passed away at 5:10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at IU Health Arnett Hospital. Born November 13, 1948 in Corpus Christi, Texas, he was the son of the late Theodore and Charlene (Timmons) Brewer of Mayfield, KY. Fayte honorably served in the US Army with the 173rd Airborne Brigade, serving two tours of duty in Viet Nam.

Fayte married Mary Jane Wallis on August 31, 1972 at Land Between The Lakes, Kentucky, and she survives.

He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Murray State with a Bachelor of Science degree and his Masters degree in Agriculture and earned his PhD in Agronomy from the University of Arkansas. Fayte worked extensively with the overseas division of Pioneer Hi-bred International in Italy, Austria, Bulgaria, Spain, Portugal, and South Africa. He taught farm management and Ag Econ briefly at Berea College in Berea, KY before coming to Lafayette, IN to become president of the Agricultural Alumni Seed Improvement Association at Romney. He loved bass fishing with his true, best friends from Kentucky, Bruce E. Skaggs and John S. Boyd. He was also blessed with many true friends throughout his lifetime from many different cultures, countries, and religions; and he loved all those friends dearly.

Surviving with his loving wife, Mary Jane, is his only daughter, Jesse Dulaney Brewer of Lafayette, and a sister, Celia Brewer of Mayfield, KY.

Memorial visitation from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday at Hippensteel Funeral Home.
