Rose M. Martin

Rose M. Martin, 76, died at 1:15 p.m. November 21, 1996, in Good Samaritan Center, Oberlin, Kansas. She had been a resident for four years and had been in ill health for the past five years. She was formerly of Covington. She was born April 29, 1920, in Stanly County near Albermarle, North Carolina, the daughter of Clarence O. and Rose O. Smyer Misenheimer. She was married to William C. Martin. He preceded her in death.

She lived in Oberlin for four years. She grew up and lived most of her life in Covington. She also lived in Otterbein. She graduated from Covington High School in 1938. She retired from Olin plant in 1982 after eight years as a secretary/bookkeeper. She was also employed as a secretary to the Covington Community School Superintendent in the late 1950's through the mid-1960's. She was co-owner of the Maple Corner Restaurant from 1969 to 1972. She was a member of the Covington United Methodist Church, former member of Tri Kappa sorority, Covington Coffeenians Bridge Club and Birthday Club.

Surviving are: two daughters, Linda M. Wesner, Lebanon, Ohio and Camilla Mounts, Franklin, West Virginia; four grandchildren, William Alenduff, Susan Alenduff Smyth, William Mounts and Jim Mounts; five great-grandchildren, Renee, Lindsey and Christopher Smyth, Trent Alenduff and Jason Bertram; a brother, Ben Misenheimer, Council Grove, Kansas; and a sister, Barbara Adamson, Boulder, Colorado. She was also preceded in death by a brother, William Misenheimer and a grandson, Martin E. Alenduff.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday in Dickerson Funeral Home, Veedersburg with the Rev. Allen Phillips officiating. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Research Association or the Covington United Methodist Church.
