Jewell Sifferman Johnson
Jewell Sifferman Johnson, 94, of Halltown, passed away on Saturday morning, May 21, 2005, in St. John's Hospital following a one year illness. Jewell was born in Greene County and was a lifelong resident of the Halltown and Ash Grove areas.
She was a homemaker and retired educator. She graduated from Halltown High School and Southwest Missouri State University. Teaching in the rural school of Gray Community then in Halltown, Fairy Play rural school and retiring from Miller School District in 1973, after 38 years of service.
She was a member of the Mt. Vernon Church of Christ.
Jewell Sifferman and Edwin Johnson were united in marriage on June 3, 1934. To this union one daughter was born. Together they were privileged to share 62 years. He preceded her in death on September 29, 1996.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, John D. Sifferman; and two sisters, June A. Sifferman and Lorene Murray.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Frances D. and husband, Gary Duvall, of Lockwood, MO; two granddaughters; two great-grandsons; one brother, Lon Sifferman, Jr. of Tulsa, OK; and one sister, Nell Johnson of Claremore, OK.
Services will be May 24, 2005, in Wilson Brim Daniel Chapel, Ash Grove, with Tim Lewis, Bob Kirkley, and Ed Pearson officiating, interment following in Rock Prairie Cemetery, Halltown.
