Hickory, N.C. - Charles Allen Crowell, 77, of Maiden, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008. Mr. Crowell was born in Albemarle and was the son of the late Roy A. and Prebble K. Crowell of Kannapolis.
A former service manager for Hickory International Trucks and West Carolina Freightliner, Mr. Crowell was a Mac Tools distributor for 13 years until his retirement in 2001. During his years with Mac Tools, he received numerous awards culminating with the Eagle Award in 1996 for the top distributor in his region and third-highest distributor in the nation.
Surviving Mr. Crowell are his wife of 52 years, Irma V. Crowell; three children, Lynn Kevitt and husband, Dennis, Lynette Stoker and husband, Eric, and Charles II "Chuck" Crowell and wife, Nikki, all of Hickory; six grandchildren, Joshua, Jordan, Abbey, Hannah Grace, Rebekah and Charles III "Trey"; and siblings, Joe Crowell, LeRoy Crowell and Prebble Henrickson, all of Concord.
A celebration of life service will be held at Catawba Memorial Park on Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, at 11 a.m. Pastors Rodney Vickers, nephew of Mr. Crowell, and Eric James will conduct the service. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choosing.
