John Samuel Fisher, Sr.

Mr. "John" Samuel Fisher, Sr. 84 of Rockwell passed away December 23, 2009 at the Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehab. Mr. Fisher was born January 31, 1925 in Rowan County son of the late Reuben Fisher and Sarah Pearl Goodman Fisher. He was educated in Rockwell Schools, and was retired from Rockwell Radio and Electric as an electrician from 1955 to 1996. Mr. Fisher was a veteran of US Army during WWII, and loved woodworking, and loved to fish, and he raised birds as a hobby. He was a member of China Grove Church of God for over 47 years.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Gertrude Mauldin Fisher who died October 6, 2001, and a sister Ruby Fisher.

Survivors are a son, John Samuel "Johnny" Fisher, Jr. and wife Mary Ann of Oak Island, NC and a daughter, Mrs. Judy F. Wyrick and husband Terry of China Grove. One sister survives Mrs. Glenna Fisher Brown of the Meadows of Rockwell, and grandchildren, Tara Williams and husband Lee, Teresa Miller and husband Bo, John S. Fisher, III, Amy Fisher, and Kaycie Fisher. Four Great Grandchildren also survive.

The funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday at the Powles Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Steve Sprinkle, Pastor of China Grove Church of God, and Rev. Gene Sprinkle Retired Pastor. Burial will follow at the Brookhill Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the Powles Funeral Home from 1:00 to 2:30 PM Sunday.
