Tom will always be remembered for his friendly wit, infectious laughter and endless stories about his large family growing up and the adventures of his youth. He was very close to his family, and family gatherings were always special to him. Whether hosting a barbeque dinner or Christmas Eve celebration, Tom was happiest when surrounded by his family, friends, and neighbors. His grandchildren were the light of his life; he doted on them constantly and teased with them great affection.

Tom loved the Primitive Baptist Church, especially its people, and treasured them as part of his extended family. He was a deacon of Mountain Creek Primitive Baptist Church where he had attended since childhood.  He particularly enjoyed the traditional music of the Primitive Baptist faith and led the song services at both Mountain Creek and Liberty Hill Churches. Tom touched many lives through his laughter, his friendship, his faith and his love. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.

Memorials can be made to Hospice of Stanly County, or Mountain Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
