He loved his family and riding around on his golf cart. He loved his vegetable garden and the outdoors which regardless of how his health declined, he still had to have his garden and work in it every day. Before his declining health he enjoyed going camping at Waterway Family Campground on the intercoastal waterway and watching NASCAR Races on TV (Dale Earnhardt was his favorite driver).

He attended Mt. Pleasant School in Mt. Pleasant, NC. In his younger years and even as an adult, he was an avid farmer. Being outdoors and working in his garden, no matter how small or how large, it was his passion. Even when he was employed full time, he still found time to work in his garden. Mr. Goodman was employed by Wiscasset Mill, Plant 64 previously known as Cannon Mills, Plant 6, Mill 4 as a Section Shift Supervisor of the Spinning Department for 35 years. He has been retired for 16 years.
