SALISBURY - Georgia Cathleen Whitley Hutchinson, 89, of Salisbury, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation facility in Salisbury.

Mrs. Hutchinson was born Feb. 22, 1919, in Rowan County, the daughter of the late James William Whitley and Roxie Eagle Whitley of Salisbury. She was educated in Rowan County schools.

A homemaker most of her life, she later was employed with Norman's of Salisbury, until her retirement. She also helped with delivering Meals On Wheels.

She was a lifelong member of Coburn Memorial United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class and Circle 1.

Preceding her in death was her husband, James Archie Hutchinson, in 1993; a son, James Franklin Hutchinson in 1977; and 10 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by a son, Cecil Ray Hutchinson (Melvia) of Salisbury; grandson Jeffrey Todd Hutchinson (Thea) of Alachua, Fla.; a granddaughter, Blair Hutchinson Green (Lt. Col. Bryan D.) of Conover; and three great-grandchildren, Derek Bryan Green, Lauryn Blair Green and Tayler Melia Green, all of Conover.

Service: Thursday, Jan. 8, at 3 p.m. at Coburn Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Annalee Allen, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Chestnut Hill Cemetery.

Visitation: 1-3 p.m. before the service at Coburn Memorial United Methodist Church.
