James William Frick

James Frick, 85, of Charlotte, died peacefully at his home Sunday, March 2, 2008 surrounded by loved ones.

He was born in Albemarle, N.C. on January 10, 1923 the son of the late Mamie Laughlin Frick and Moses Alexander Frick.

James attended Albemarle schools and Coyne American Institute in Chicago, Il. He was a veteran who served in a US Army Artillery Unit during World War II.

James was an active member of Midwood Baptist Church for 56 years and as a youth, a former member of North Albemarle Baptist Church. At Midwood Baptist, he served as deacon, usher, Sunday school teacher and on numerous other committees. James was a faithful member of the Elsie Davis Sunday School class.

He retired from Miller’s Office Services after 39 years of service. His hobbies were gardening, fishing and camping with his family, but he especially loved to serve the needs of his church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Etrulia “Trudy” Ross Frick of Charlotte; a son, Larry Ross Frick and wife, Beth, and their children, Preston Frick, Trevor Frick and Marybeth Frick; a son, David James Frick and wife, Lucia, of Rock Hill, S.C. and their daughter, Christina Frick; two devoted sisters, Virginia Frick Drinnon of Albemarle and Betty Frick Austin of Raleigh.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruby Frick Cole.

The family of James Frick would like to sincerely thank the many relatives, friends and neighbors for their constant prayers, thoughtfulness and acts of kindness shown to James and his family during his illness.

The family will receive friends at McEwen Funeral Services on 5716 Monroe Road in Charlotte from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight. The celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. March 5, at Midwood Baptist Church, 2029 Mecklenburg Ave., Charlotte, N.C. His dear friend and pastor, Dr. Garry Baldwin will be conducting the service. Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Building Fund at Midwood Baptist Church.
