Notes for Anna Marie Morgan
Anna Marie Morgan Hill

Anna Marie Morgan Hill, 92, of Salisbury, passed away Saturday, September 25, 2021. She was born June 29, 1929, in Rowan County, to the late John Noah Morgan, Sr. and Nolie Lee Morgan Morgan.

Mrs. Hill was a 1947 graduate of Richfield High School where she played basketball and was class valedictorian. She then attended Greensboro Women's College where she graduated in 1951 with her degree in Home Economics. She was the first female to drive a school bus in Rowan County and was a Home Economics Teacher at New London High School. Mrs. Hill was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church, was a talented seamstress, devoted wife, mother of five children, grandmother to 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was a Minister's wife and “hostess with the mostest,” always welcoming each individual that came to her home and making them feel special. She showed no preference or favoritism towards her children, grandchildren, or anyone else--she loved everyone equally and her greatest joy was to be surrounded by all of her family.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Fred Adam Hill, whom she married September 12, 1953, at Liberty United Methodist Church; and her brothers, John N. Morgan, Jr. and Dewey Lee Morgan.

She is survived by her children, Ann Rome (Bill Coxe) of Ellenboro, David Hill (Donna) of Stanley, Miriam Pinkston (Jeff) of Charlotte, Carol Thomas (Ivey) of Winston-Salem, Beverly Fulp (Andy) of Savannah, GA, 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

A private service for family and close friends will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at Liberty United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Charles Curtis and Dr. Jeff Pinkston. The service will be live streamed and can be accessed from Mrs. Hill's obituary page on Powles Staton Funeral Home's website. Burial will be held in the church cemetery following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Liberty United Methodist Church, 3940 Liberty Road, Gold Hill, NC.
