Joyce Hunnicutt Lemly
Joyce Hunnicutt Lemly, 77 of Spencer, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018 at her home.
Born July 12, 1940 in Salisbury, she was the daughter of the late Boyd B. Hunnicutt and Virginia Lanning Hunnicutt.
She was educated in the Spencer schools, graduated from North Rowan High School and attended Salisbury Business College.
Mrs. Lemly worked in the secretarial field at both NC Finishing Company and Norman’s of Salisbury before joining F&M Bank where she was a switchboard operator and receptionist for 22 years before retiring in 2008.
She was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church where she served on various committees including Co-Chairing the Kitchen Committee and served on the Lord’s Supper Committee. Mrs. Lemly also was a children’s Sunday School teacher. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, traveling, shopping and spending time with her grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 58 years, John Lemly; daughters, Cindy Beaver and husband Brent of Spencer, Angie Gegorek of Spencer; sister, Becky McCall of Salisbury; and grandchildren, Jessica Beaver Smith and wife Amy of Fuquay Varina, Shelby Gegorek Knotts and husband Dakota of Spencer and Chris Gegorek and wife Shelley of Durham.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 PM – Wednesday (May 23) in the Family Life Center of Oakdale Baptist Church followed by the funeral service at 3 PM with the Rev. Jeff Norton and Rev. Richard Gross officiating. Interment will follow at Oakdale Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oakdale Baptist Church, Spencer, NC.
