Notes for Georgia Alice “Georgie” Hatley
Georgie Hatley Wetter

Georgie Hatley Wetter, 96, of Mt. Pleasant, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, February 6, 2022.

She was born December 21, 1925 in Stanly County to the late Charles Craven and the late Ethel Almond Hatley.  She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Marvin "Jack" Wetter and D.F. Whitley; brothers, Coy Kenneth Hatley and Charles Junior Hatley; and sister, Callie Hatley Barrier.

Georgie loved her church and was a lifelong member of Mission Baptist Church in Stanly County, where she taught Sunday School, was a counselor of Girl's Auxiliary and was a member of Baptist Women.  She loved to crochet doilies and gave them away to everyone.  Reading and word searches were enjoyed by her and she loved eating peppermints.

Survivors include daughter, Joyce Wetter Coley and husband, Coy, of Mt. Pleasant; sister, Lois Hatley Hinson of Mt. Pleasant; step-daughter, Martha Blackwelder and husband, Harold, of Winterville; and step-son, Danny Whitley of Mt. Pleasant.

Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the sunshine of her days.  Left to cherish her memory are Suzanne Coley Vester and husband, Chris, of Nashville; and Matthew Coley and wife, Sara, of Asheville; and great-grand girls, Avery, Gabrielle and Shelby Vester.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 1:45 pm, Friday, February 11, 2022 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, officiated by Pastor Adam Reed.  Masks are recommended.  Georgie will be laid to rest during a private committal service at Mission Church Cemetery, Locust.

Special thanks to her caregivers from Home Instead, Mt. Pleasant House, and Transitional Health Services.  An extra special thanks to Dr. Charles Rhodes for his care over the years.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mission Church Cemetery Fund.
