Katharyn Earnhardt Weaver

Salisbury, N.C. - Katharyn Earnhardt Weaver, 95, of Salisbury, died Saturday, July 11, 2009, after a period of declining health.

Born April 20, 1914, in Salisbury, she was the daughter of the late Walter A. and Cora Holshouser Earnhardt.

She was educated at Boyden High School and Salisbury Business College. She was one of Salisbury's first policewomen and then worked in the tax department of the city of Salisbury until her retirement. She was a lifelong member of First United Church of Christ, which was organized in the home of her grandparents. She served the church in various capacities and was most recently active in the Prime Timers and Circle 4.

Her devoted husband of 63 years, Dermot, preceded her in death on Jan. 3, 1997.

Survivors include sons, James D. Weaver and wife, Christa, of Hickory, Dr. Fred B. Weaver and wife, Flo, of Winston-Salem and Jerry S. Weaver and wife, Gloria, of Greenville, S.C.; daughter, Kathy W. Norris and husband, Eric, of Salisbury; grandsons, Rick Weaver, Scott Weaver and wife, Nancy, and Jay Weaver and wife, Kim; granddaughters, Renee Weaver and husband, Jay Gallman, Lynn Pittman and husband, Michael, Michele Weaver, Susan Clements and husband, Curt, Monique Stephens and husband, Rick, Kim Duffley and husband, Peter, Erin Norris and Kristen Rogers and husband, Jonathan; and 13 great-grandchildren. 

A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Weaver will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at First United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Michael Childress officiating. 

Interment will follow in Chestnut Hill Cemetery.
